We decided to treat our time in Bangkok, at this fabulous hotel, as if we were staying in a remote resort. We would just relax to get over our jet lag and the stress of the trip. There was only one thing we wanted to do outside of the hotel grounds and that was to visit the new textile museum at the Palace Complex. In previous visits we had seen the complex, today's journey would be to check out the museum.

It was worth the trip. It is located in a restored Palace. Although it is billed as a textile museum, it seemed to us it was a testimony to the current Queen's clothing style.  The museum is very advanced technologically, with almost every dress having a story explained in detail on iPads. It was fascinating. The King is the world's longest serving monarch, serving since 1046. His Queen, apparently doesn't buy store bought things. Everything was made by hand. The two of them are revered in Thailand (it helps they have extremely harsh laws about speaking ill of them). She is credited with dramatically changing Thai fashions and reviving many local crafts. She was and continues to be a Thai fashion icon. I really don't know who she changed, other than the help in the hotels, for all of the young women, I saw in Thailand, wore the typical South East Asian hot weather wear of flip flops, shorts and tee shirt. Visit the museum on your next trip to Bangkok, it is worth it.  The traffic to - from the Palace Complex was horrendous. We returned to the hotel about 1pm.

Upon returning to the hotel we decided to pamper ourselves. Cathy had a facial while I had a massage. We then went to lunch, again eating Thai food at Celadon, the hotels great restaurant. We had lobster again, this time Maine lobster in a delicious yellow curry. I ordered crispy soft shell crab; vegetables, red rice and coconut ice cream made for a great lunch.

Over lunch, Cathy surprised me by telling me she had arranged for what turned out to be a 1 hr foot massage for us. So we traipsed over to the Spa and had our 6th massage in a 24 hour period. We didn't want to checkout it had been such a wonderful stay. If you ever want to experience a great getaway, go to Bangkok and stay at the Sukhothai!

The hotel drove us in our wifi equipped Mercedes to the airport where we were met by a hotel staff member who gathered our bags and escorted us to check in for our flight to Sri Lanka. What a wonderful day!
